Hello again, and welcome to this weeks
letter. I hope you are well.
It seems to be flu season over here in
Tasmania (not surprising, since it is winter
here). Several of my friends have been down and
out with it over the past week, and Marina
hasn't been feeling too well either.
So far I've been ok (touch wood), which is
rather unusual really. I'm usually one of the
first people to catch whatever it is that's
going around :-)
Having said that, I just *know* I'm going to
wake up feeling terrible tomorrow. ;-)

If you have a web site, chances are you want
to get traffic to that site. There are hundreds
of ways to get traffic, but when you first start
looking it can be overwhelming. What still
works, and what doesn't anymore? How much will I
have to pay? Will I be getting quality visitors,
or just junk traffic? Will this still work in
the future?
Luckily, a new set of videos will help.
Created by Louis Allport, they show you five
"tried and tested" ways to get *quality*
visitors to your web site... for free!
Not surprisingly, his product is called "5
Easy Ways To BOOST Your Website Traffic For
Free", and you can find out all about it (as
well as buy it at the special subscribers-only
price) at
http://www.achievenetprofits.com/special/
However, if you would like to grab an
additional 31 hours of audio and video training
on a huge range of topics related to running an
online business (including help for getting your
site ranked in the search engines, building your
own lists, or even creating your own
info-products), you may want to take a look at
the "Louis Allport Collection". It includes the
above product, and you even get three free
updates as new products are added to the
collection.
You can find out more about the collection

This weeks condensed interview is from Chuck
McCullough. Chuck has had a *lot* of success
online with affiliate programs (and not just in
the Internet marketing area either).
Chuck used to publish an ebook on common
mistakes affiliate marketers make, and what they
should do instead (although for various personal
reasons he no longer sells that book). As you
can imagine, Chuck certainly knows a lot about
affiliate marketing, and he passes on some great
tips in this extract.
ANP: What has been your worst
mistake in affiliate marketing?
Chuck: Probably the worst mistake I
made was spending so much time looking for
that *ONE* trick or tip that would bring in
all the money. I finally realized that you
have to do little bits of many different
things to bring in traffic and convert that
traffic to a sale. No single method makes you
rich, but rather a combination of the best
methods gets you closer to your goals.
ANP: What role do autoresponders play
in your affiliate marketing business?
Chuck: To be honest, I need to
create even more! I use different lists for
just about everything. I have my newsletter
list, email courses, etc. One of the things I
preach about is the fact that you absolutely
MUST capture email addresses from your
visitors. Whether it's to sign them up for
your newsletter, or email courses, update
lists, whatever.
Nothing beats the power of autoresponders
lists and newsletters to keep your visitors'
attention. Things move so quickly online, and
the majority of your visitors will hit your
web site, scan it, and then leave....never to
return. Focus on an irresistible offer that
makes it near impossible for them to not
leave you their email address, and your list
will quickly grow. As it grows, you'll see
more and more sales each time you send out a
message.
ANP: What do you look for in a company
when you are signing up with them as an
affiliate? What sort of things will make you
run away as quickly as possible?
Chuck: I try to stay with
well-known programs that I feel comfortable
dealing with. There are some questionable
companies out there, so you have to be
careful. The things that turn me off are:
- No contact information on the site
(other than a generic email address)
- Long payment periods (such as
quarterly payments)
- High minimum payment thresholds
(another way to make you wait for your
check)
- Low commissions (come on, you can't
tell me that a digital product is costing
you so much to produce that you can only
afford to pay 10%!)
- Poorly designed site with weak sales
information and poor navigation (if I
can't find my way through the site, or am
not convinced to pull out my wallet, my
customers won't either)
Many times if I like a product, but am not
sure how it will sell, or how the company is
to deal with, I'll make a small promotion to
bring in a few sales. If everything goes well
I'll give a bigger push. If not, I move
on.
ANP: What is the most common mistake
you see people fall into when promoting
affiliate programs?
Chuck: I'd have to say that one of
the big ones is not purchasing a product you
are promoting to write your own review of it.
Most affiliate programs give you plenty of
cut-and-paste ads to use to promote their
products. This makes it easy for affiliates
to get started, but it also severely limits
their ability to make sales.
People don't want you to give them an ad
(especially one they've may have already seen
on 500 other websites already), they want you
to tell them what your experience with the
product was. Was it worth the money? Did you
like it? Was there anything you didn't like?
These are questions you just can't answer
without actually owning and trying the
product for yourself.
ANP: If you were starting from scratch
with affiliate marketing today, what steps
would you follow to achieve the same success
you have today?
Chuck: I would spend much more time
and effort building my email lists. In this
process I would also start generating more
traffic, and the combination of these two
really make a difference. And, I wouldn't be
so hesitant to contact others with
established lists and ask them to run an
article that I've written, or give my site a
mention, or even link to me.
These are the methods that stand the test
of time online. You can spend all of your
time trying to figure out how to send out an
email and make $10,000 overnight, or you can
build your own list and get to the point
where you can earn a consistent $1,000,
$2,000, or even $5,000 per month...month
after month...possibly for the rest of your
life.

Well, that's it for me this week. Be sure to
check out the compilation of training audio and
videos I've put together - it has over 33 hours
of material on just about every subject related
to running an online business.

I hope you have a great week, and look
forward to the next time we meet.
Cheers,
Jason
