I hope this weeks issue finds you well, and
your online business continuing to grow and
thrive.
I made a rather big decision in the last
week. As you all know, I run a paid membership
site (Achieve Net Profits), where you can find
all the interviews that I've done (along with
lots of other bonuses that I won't go into here
:-) ).
Anyway, I originally set the site up with a
monthly recurring charge - people paid around
$20 a month to remain a member. But on the
weekend, I decided to make the site a once-off
charge. Pay once, and you're a member for
life.
I made the change for a couple of reasons -
the main one being that I was finding it harder
and harder to spend the time I needed to get new
material for the site. By having just a once off
charge, people are paying for what is there now.
Any new material added later on is a bonus.
I wanted to mention this for two reasons. The
first is a piece of advice I have - don't get so
hung up on an idea that you refuse to consider
other alternatives.
Generally, when people set up a membership
site, they do so for the recurring income. And
membership sites are great for that.
But the downside is the constant work. You
need to make your members feel that they are
constantly getting something for their money,
otherwise they will leave.
If you have to change what you're doing,
admit it and move on. Don't keep doing things
one way because that was the idea you originally
came up with.

By the way, for those of you who were
interested in the progress of our garden (I
mentioned it in the last letter), it's going
well. The whole area has had weedmat and pine
bark placed down (making it look a million times
better already). We've put a few plants in one
area, but for the moment it's just pine bark.
We'll get the rest of the plants over the next
few weeks.
Once the main plants are in, then we start
work on the rock garden area.
My back is sore already just thinking about
it! :-)

Rather ironically, this weeks interview
snippet comes from Ron Ruiz. Ron is an expert
when it comes to setting up and running a

I picked Ron's brains on several topics, but
one of the most important topics when it comes
to starting a membership site is picking the
topic for the site. Here's what Ron had to
say.
This is the most critical decision
you'll have to make. Choose the right topic
and you'll have people clamoring to give you
money to access your site, choose the wrong
topic and you're doomed before you even
start.
Since you are going to be spending time
building and maintaining your membership
site, why not choose a topic that you enjoy?
That's why finding a topic within your hobby
or other interest is ideal.
Find a topic that you are passionate about
and the odds are that other people are
passionate about it also, giving you
potential for a successful membership
site.
But of course you need to do research and
also see how big a market is, how much
competition you have, and if your topic is
specific enough.
Don't think niche, think sub niche!
For example, a paid membership site on
dogs is much too broad. You would want to
narrow it down not only to a specific breed,
maybe even a sub breed.
