I hope this weeks (late) issue finds you
well, and that you'll find something useful here
for your online business.
Spring has hit here in Tasmania. I always
love the change in the air that spring brings
about. The mornings are crisp, but not too cold,
and the sun is bright, but not too hot.
Of course, the other thing that spring brings
is gardening. I'm not a huge gardening fan
(although I don't mind looking after a vegetable
garden if I have the time). As a result, our
back yard had begun to resemble a jungle :-)
But my parents finally had enough with my
attempts at creating a new Amazon forest here in
Australia, and over the last few weeks they've
been helping me to clear it out. Much as I hate
to admit it, having a "clear" back yard does
look much better than a jungle :-)
Marina and I have even been inspired to do
some work in the front garden, and yesterday we
replanted a small section of weeds/bare dirt
with conifers, covering the gaps in between them
with pine bark. And we even have plans to make a
small rock garden.
Who knows - maybe I'll get into this
gardening thing yet! :-)

This weeks interview snippet comes from
Michael Green. I'm sure you've heard of him
before - he has created over 18 info-products
(and counting :-) ), and is also the owner of
the "How-To" forum (easily one of the most
popular, if not THE most popular, forum on
Internet marketing).
Continuing the accidental theme that I've
begun over the last few weeks, I interviewed
Michael on how he creates his info-products. He
shared some interesting tips for people creating
their first product.
One set of tips he passed on that caught my
eye was how to choose a price for your product.
This can be a tricky area - here's what Michael
had to say.
Pricing is a tricky business and
I'll be releasing a product in the future
called "How To Price a Product". It's a
combination between art and science and is
driving by how I feel about the potential for
my product. Do I want a small number of
owners (price it high value) or masses of
owners (price it low value). I tend to
levitate towards somewhat higher prices.
Price has to be built and justified. You
can't just pin a high price on an average
product. In marketing terms that means
spending time developing why the price is not
only right... but an absolute bargain.
I usually do this by comparing the
potential upside of owning a particular
product. Let's say that the potential
maximum gain by owning a product is a
business which earns an extra $10,000 this
year (now that's a moderate claim to make I
think), well if the product is then selling
for just $47, then price justification has
taken place.
Pricing is about much more besides. What
your competition is doing. What the market
place will bear. How much development time
you've had for the product. There are all
sorts of factors and you need to weigh them
all up. It's a big subject - hence the future
toolkit.
