Welcome to this weeks issue of the Achieve
Net Profits Letter.
Winter is definitely here in Tasmania
(Australia). We had our first heavy snow on the
mountain behind the city where I live this week
(unfortunately it rarely snows in the city, and
never were we live, but the mountain still looks
impressive when its all white).
Then again, Marina and I are both cold
weather people, so we prefer snow on the
mountain to a hot summers day. That isn't to say
that we don't still have the heater on during
the day of course - we like the cold, but not
that much :-)
You've probably heard about this bit of news
from others, but in case you haven't well known
marketer Marlon Sanders is offering a $25
discount on his five most popular products.
There is a catch though - he's only offering
it for 72 hours (although it would be less than
48 hours now, as he sent the offer out
yesterday). Once the 72 hours are up, that's it.
No extensions.
Marlon Sanders is definitely one marketer who
knows what he's talking about, and someone I
listen to when he has something to say. So if
you're looking for material from someone who
writes about what they do and know will work
(instead of what they think will work), check
out his offer.

Before I get to this weeks interview snippet,
I want to tell you about a fantastic (free)
resource I've been using lately to help build my
list. This week I've added 92 new subscribers to
one of my lists by using it.
92 may not sound like much, but these are a)
double opt-in subscribers (so I lose a lot of
them when they don't confirm their
subscription), and b) setting it up only took 5
minutes of work (so I'm not complaining :-)
)
The tool is called ListInferno. You may have
heard of it - there are several tools like it
(perhaps the most well known being Subscription
Rocket).
Basically, how they all work is whenever a
visitor goes to a page where you've added it,
they're shown a list of newsletters they can
subscribe to. Each time a visitor sees the list
on your site, an ad for your newsletter is shown
on someone else's site.
What I like the most about ListInferno is
that you have the option of using a popup (the
usual method), or if you prefer you can have the
list actually inserted into your web page.
Why is this good? Because only 30-40% of
visitors to your site will ever see a popup.
Popup blockers are so common these days that not
many people see popups any more.
It's a great tool, and I highly recommend it
to you.

This weeks interview snippet is from Mark
Sturge. You probably haven't heard of Mark
before - he isn't one of the marketing 'gurus'.
Instead, Mark specializes in creating video.
You've probably seen the increasing
popularity of audio and video online over the
last year or so. Jim Edwards in particular has
been doing a lot of work with it (to great
effect I might add).
Why the increase in popularity? A couple of
reasons. Firstly, more people now have DSL or
Cable Internet access, so they're able to
download large files much easier (and audio and
video files can be rather large!)
Secondly, and more importantly, the tools to
create such files are now much cheaper than they
used to be (in some cases, they're free!)
But, like most things, creating a video
that's interesting requires a bit of knowledge.
That's where Mark Sturge comes in.
Mark had some great tips on creating video
that will appeal to people watching, but the
snippet this week talks about *why* you should
be interested in using video.
One of the reasons for the
preference of video is because you can share
a greater amount of information in a shorter
time.
Understand this:
FACT: The majority of people are
auditory and visual learners
hungry for information,
but time poor.
If you understand this, you'll realize why
so many Internet marketers (we're talking
about the top, most successful Internet
marketers) are turning to video to convey
their message.
The disadvantages traditionally have been
that files size for video needed to be quite
large and the delivery methods slow, but with
the advent of streaming and new technologies
along with it, these problems will be a thing
of the past.
Obviously there are shipping and handling
issues to factor in if you are delivering a
hard copy (DVD or VHS tape) of your
product.

That pretty much wraps me up for this week.
I've got to go and help Marina make a chocolate
cake (yum!) It may not be good for you, but it
sure tastes good! :-)
Till next week, I wish you all the best with
your online business.
Cheers,
Jason
