1. From the Editor
What, it's December already? Where on earth
has the year gone!?
You know, it seemed like only a week or two
ago that it was the start of the year, and I was
making my plans for the year. Looking back at
those plans, I can see that I didn't manage to
complete a lot of them.
To give myself a little bit of credit, most
of the items on my list that I haven't completed
are in progress. But then "in progress" doesn't
really count ;-) The constant computer problems
I had in October and early November didn't help,
but that's a poor excuse really.
On the plus side I do have two products that
are nearing completion, so I haven't been
totally wasting my time ;-)
I guess that just means I'll have to work
doubly hard early in 2004 to make up for it
all!
Speaking of computer problems, I'm not the
only one with them it seems. A fellow reader,
Codrut Turcanu, is in the same situation I was.
His computer has been damaged, and the techs
have said he needs to buy another one.
To help come up with the money for the new
computer, he's offering a discount on some
software he has found useful in his own online
business.

I wouldn't normally mention something like
this, but Codrut was the first person I
interviewed in this newsletter, and it was an
article in his newsletter that gave me the
initial push to start doing things online. So I
figure I can make this one exception.
Well I won't keep you waiting any longer (I
know how busy you are at this time of the year),
so on with what's in todays newsletter!
My interview this week is with Rick Adams.
Rick did something that few people online do -
he took action. In his case, he created and
released an ebook (Costly Online Blunders) that
has received great reviews from many people.
I spoke with Rick about the book - how he
came up with the idea, how he went about
creating the book and then putting it together,
the problems he encountered while putting the
book together, and the mistakes he made. I think
you'll find it a very informative interview.
This weeks resource is by - me! :-) It is a
short report on the contest I ran back in
September to gain more subscribers. It talks
about what I did, what went right and wrong,
what I'd change, etc. The report is also
brandable with your name and affiliate links.
More on this below.
I hope you enjoy this weeks issue. Don't

3. Survey Results
The interview with Grady Smith last week
(writing a sales letter) proved very popular. I
even got one email from a reader who said he
didn't normally rate the interviews, but he just
had to rate that one (and gave it a 5).
The final results? Out of 19 votes, the
interview got a final score of 4.42 out of
5.
Thank you everyone who took the time to rate
the interview. Please keep those votes
coming!
4. Resources - Gaining New
Subscribers Through Contests
If you have been a reader of the newsletter
since September, you may remember I ran a
contest with several other publishers in an
effort to get some new subscribers to our
lists.
That contest turned out to be quite
successful overall.
I've written a short report on the contest -
how I put the contest together, what I did
right, what I did wrong, and what I would change
if I was doing it all again.
(I had intended to release the report in
October, but all the computer problems delayed
me working on it).
The report isn't long (around 8 pages), but I
feel it would be very useful to people thinking
about running a contest of their own.
As an added bonus, you can also brand the
report with your own name and affiliate links,
so by passing it around to others you have a
chance to earn affiliate commissions if they buy
anything mentioned in the report.
I hope you enjoy it.
This report is in PDF, so can be read by most
people. A link to the report has been added to
the "members only" section, along with the
existing collection of ebooks, ecourses, and
other useful sites.

5. Final Word
Marina and I managed a first for us this year
- we finished our Christmas shopping early
(before December even!)
Well, ok, we haven't 100% finished our
Christmas shopping. We haven't bought our
presents for each other yet.
But as far as I can recall this is the first
year we've managed to get things done so we can
avoid the huge crowds that Christmas shopping
always brings with it.
So hopefully neither of us will contribute to
the stressed out people who are madly running
around trying to get things done at the last
minute (which is what we normally do ;-) ).
Instead we can give the shops a wide berth, and
take it easy this month.
Now if only we could be so organized as to
send out our Christmas cards early for once, so
that they had a chance of making it to all our
friends in the US before Christmas!
;-)
Take care this week, and I hope your online
business continues to grow and prosper.

in it. From there, it's up to you!" -- Dr. James
