1. From the Editor
First of all, a quick reminder about the
short report I wrote last week, titled "Mini
Sites Revealed". It has a case study on the
first mini site I built (how I researched and
chose the topic, how I put the site together,
etc), and an interview with the 'mini site
master', Phil Wiley.
As an added bonus, you can rebrand the report
with your own name and affiliate links (for
free), and give it away to others.

If you haven't had a chance yet to look at the
site I told you about on Friday, I strongly urge
you to do so.
In case you missed it, Jennifer Tripp has set
up a teleclass with five leading newsletter
publishers. The topic is how you can build a
relationship with your list.
You see, its all well and good to have a list
of email addresses. But what you really want is
a list of *readers*, who read what you have to
say and will respond in some way.
The teleclass will be held in 6 sessions (so
you'll get over 6 hours of material), and if you
can't attend you'll still get the recordings of
the calls. There's even a recording-only option,
if you know you can't make it to any of the
calls.
I'm looking forward to it, and I hope you are
too. I strongly urge you to check it out

Finally, a quick word about membership sites, as
it was the topic of last weeks interview.
If you are looking at a simple to use system
for setting up such a site (and you don't want
to mess around trying to install scripts, etc
yourself), here are two links I found.
The first is VisionGate. They're used by a
membership site I'm a member of - http://www.SucceedAtMarketing.com.
They look pretty good, and I know the owner of
the membership site is happy with them.
http://www.visiongateportal.com/
The other option I'm familiar with came from
a reader who is using them for his own site.
http://www.memberstar.com
is the company. If you do try them, do a fellow
reader a favor and tell Ron that Jack Hughes
sent you!
I make no claims that these two companies are
the best. And of course these aren't the only
two options you have. If you are willing to
install scripts, etc yourself, the choice is
very large!
Well, enough rambling from me. I'd better
tell you about what's in this weeks
newsletter!
My interview this week is with Kennon Fort.
Kennon is very much an expert when it comes to
hosting teleseminars (rather appropriate with
the upcoming seminar I mentioned above!)
I had always wondered how teleseminars worked
behind the scenes. Now I know! Kennon passes on
some great information about how teleseminars
are run, the equipment you need, and most
importantly tips on how to make the teleseminar
a success!
This weeks resource is a script that may
interest you if you sell anything via ClickBank.
As you may know, it can be difficult to protect
your downloads from thieves. This script will
help. More on it below.
I hope you enjoy this weeks issue. Don't
forget that you can view all the past issues
online at

2. Interview - Kennon Fort
Sorry, this interview is no longer available in the archives. It has been moved to the membership site. You can find out more about the membership site (and how to join) by visiting here.
3. Survey Results
The interview with Peter Twist last week (on
setting up and running a membership site)
received 14 votes for it, giving a final score
of 4.07 out of 5.
As you would have seen above I also got a
couple of emails about the interview, and I'm
glad to hear the information was helpful for
some.
Thank you everyone who took the time to rate
the interview - please keep those votes
coming!

Like it or not, there are a lot of thieves on
the Internet. People who don't care that you
paid lots of money for resell rights to a book,
or that you spent months writing it.
You'll never be able to stop people passing
your products around, but there is a way to stop
people from downloading your product from your
own site.
From your own site? Yep! ClickBank is much
better than PayPal, but it still isn't the best
when it comes to protecting the product you are
selling. If someone guesses the download link to
your product, or buys your product then posts
the download link somewhere online, people can
download your product without paying you a
cent.
This script will help. It allows automatic
and password-protected downloads of your product
after payment has been made through Clickbank.
You can set up passwords to expire (so if people
post your download link it won't matter), and
everything is automated.
The script even has a mailing list component,
so if you want you can use it to send out a
follow-up message to people who have bought from
you.
While it doesn't have all the features of
other scripts you can buy, if you are on a
budget you certainly can't beat the price! And a
little bit extra peace of mind never hurt anyone
either.
A link to this script has been added to the
"members only" section, along with the existing
collection of ebooks, ecourses, and other useful
sites.

password is also in the Welcome message when you
subscribe to this newsletter!]
5. Final Word - The Computer
Saga Returns!
I managed to jinx myself last week when I
said my computer saga was over.
If you've only recently joined us, the short
version is my laptop was in and out of the
computer repair shop for almost a month
recently. Just when I thought everything was
fixed - things got worse.
First the screen in my laptop died again (the
backlight - the *original* problem my computer
had). Then, while using the laptop with an
external monitor, I heard the wonderful sound of
electrical sparking followed by the smell of
burning electronics.
Yep, the logic board in the computer (ie: the
really expensive bit) had decided to fry
itself.
The cost of repair wasn't really worth it,
and given all the problems I'd had with the
computer recently I wasn't very confident about
the results anyway. So I'm now the proud owner
of a new computer.
(Although my credit card isn't very happy
about the fact!)
Fingers crossed this one is more reliable
;-)
Take care this week, and I hope your online
business continues to grow and prosper.
"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope
that if you just show up and try to do the right
thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch
and work: you don't give up." -- Anne Lamott
