1. From the Editor
Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me...
;-) Well, it isn't QUITE my birthday yet - it's
on Saturday (the 4th). But any excuse to
celebrate ahead of time sounds good to me!
I haven't yet reached the age where birthdays
are a scary thing. I'm still a young'un - I'm
turning 28 this year. But that big scary
"three-oh" is fast approaching! ;-)
Of course, no birthday is complete without
presents. But just to change the tradition
around, this year I've got a couple of presents
for you!
The first present I'll tell you more about on
Friday. I'm fairly excited about it (its
something I've never offered before), but it may
also be a bit controversial. Watch out for my
email on Friday.
My second present to you is a copy of an
ebook package by well known marketer Jimmy D.
Brown. You can see the regular sales page for
the package (which tells you all about it)
here:
http://www.achievenetprofits.com/msr/
But instead of selling it to you, I'm
offering you a trade. If you can convince at
least three of your friends to visit Achieve Net
Profits (they don't even have to subscribe -
although obviously I'll be happy if they do ;-)
), I'll give it to you for nothing. Sound like a
fair trade?
If you're interested, just visit
http://www.achievenetprofits.com/cgi-bin/super.cgi
and follow the instructions there.
(if you subscribed to ANP in the last week or
so you might have already seen this offer - but
as it is a very recent thing, most people
haven't).
And now with the birthday celebrations dying
down (for the moment), its time to look at what
else is in store for you this week!
Evil gremlins have caused havoc with the
interview this week, and despite valiant efforts
to beat back the horde...
Ok, I'll be honest - I haven't got one ready
:-(. Instead, I've decided to reprint the
interview I did with Pamela Heywood late last
year, as most readers won't have read it unless
they went browsing through the archives.
Pamela's interview talks a bit about starting
your online business, but I also quizzed her on
the topic of products with resell rights. Are
they worth it? How can you benefit from them?
Her answers may surprise you!
My mini-survey this week asks a question that
I could really use your help with - what sort of
subject line should I use for this
newsletter?
This weeks resources are two rather
contrasting items. The first is a new list
building service (just launched today), which
seems very powerful. You've probably heard of
SubscriptionRocket before. In my opinion, this
is a much better version! The second resource is
an ecourse I have written on how to research and
build a mini site. More on both of these
resources below.
I hope you enjoy this weeks issue. Don't
forget that you can view all the past issues

3. Your Feedback
I have a very simple question for you this
week with the mini survey about the subject line
I use for this newsletter.
The one time I tried experimenting with the
subject line (a couple of months ago now), my
response rates for that issue were terrible! So,
I'd like to hear your thoughts on what sort of
subject line would capture your attention the
most?
I know its not a super exciting topic, but it
would really help if you could give me your
thoughts.
http://www.achievenetprofits.com/survey/
My interview with Dean Wiebe last week got a
respectable number of votes. There were 19
votes, with a final score of 4.11 out of 5.
I have noticed a curious trend in voting. The
overall rating seems to slowly go down over the
week. For several of the interviews I've had a
look at the ratings early on, and usually they
are higher than the final result. I wonder why?
Any thoughts on this appreciated! ;-)
4. Resources - ListInferno, How
To Build A Profitable Mini Site
The first resource this week (ListInferno)
helps solve the age-old problem that every
newsletter publisher has - getting subscribers
to their list.
You've probably seen similar systems before.
One of the more popular systems like this in
recent times is SubscriptionRocket. In my mind,
ListInferno is much much better!
You earn "credits" in the system by adding a
bit of HTML code to your web site. This code
displays either a popup, or (this is the bit I
really like) a list that is actually part of
your page. The popup and list show several
newsletters, with a name and description for
each of them.
Each time your web page displays the popup or
list, you earn one "credit". The name and
description of your newsletter is then shown
once (on someone else's site) for each credit
you earn.
The two things I really like about this
system are the popup is displayed when the
visitor EXITS the page (not when they first
visit the page list most systems, so its less in
their face), and that you can embed the list of
newsletters within your page if you prefer.
People had a lot of success using
SubscriptionRocket (including me). I think this
system has several advantages over
SubscriptionRocket, and I expect it to do
extremely well. Be sure to check it out:

The second resource I have for you this week
is an ecourse I wrote. Yep, that's right - I
wrote it!
This 8 part ecourse talks about building mini
sites - what they are, why they are good, how to
find your topic, and so on. By the end of it,
you should be able to build your own mini site
without too much trouble.
I've tried to put some good quality
information into the course, but obviously
you'll have to be the judge of that.

Both of these items have also been added to
the "members only" section, along with the
existing collection of ebooks, ecourses, and
other useful sites.

5. Final Word
There was great cause for excitement at home
yesterday... we finally got an ADSL connection
installed! No more using a dialup account for us
:-)
(What's the difference between ADSL and DSL?
Not much - it just means uploading things is a
lot slower than downloading things. But since
most of the time we are only interested in
downloading things (web pages, email, etc), that
doesn't really matter).
As an added bonus, Marina and I will no
longer be fighting over who can use the Internet
connection any more ;-)
Yeah, I know, it probably doesn't mean much
to you. And you may have had DSL (or cable) for
years. What can I say - I get excited over
little things!
That's about it for this week. Watch out for
my email on Friday with my second birthday
present offer, and I hope you have a great
week!
