1. From the Editor
Greetings, and welcome to this weeks issue of
Achieve Net
Profits. I hope this issue finds you well, and
your business
profits starting to grow.
First of all, for those of you who prefer
receiving TEXT emails I
must apologize for this newsletter being sent in
HTML. With a
recent upgrade of the autoresponder system at
Ultimate Merchant
(the company I use to host this list), the
programmers forgot to
include a TEXT-only option!
I've been told that this will be added shortly.
Once this
happens, the newsletter will revert to TEXT.
Until then, HTML it
is I'm afraid.
Our youngest cat (Discordia, who we got back in
December) is
continuing to be a bit of a problem kitty. She
went in for her
desexing operation a week and a bit ago
(Thursday week to be
precise). Everything went well, and she seemed
happy to be home.
Well, on the Sunday we noticed she was licking
her stitches a
lot, and had made the wound bleed slightly. So
back to the vet
she went (the vet took the stitches out - they
were too tight and
pulling, which is why she was licking).
Last Thursday, while checking her wound we
noticed that the area
had swollen up. Needless to say, this panicked
us a bit! Off to
the vet again. Luckily, it was just her body
reacting to the
sudden space the desexing operation had caused,
and filled the
area with blood, etc. So the vet drained a bit
out, and we went
home.
And then there was Friday - the swelling was
back, and this time
hard instead of the soft from the previous
night. Yep, you
guessed it - off to the vet again! Thankfully,
nothing to worry
about.
You know, I think we made a bad move calling her
Discordia ;-)
Rebecca Hagel has to be one of my favorite
authors of Internet
marketing books. She has a very clear (and
enjoyable) writing
style. Unlike some books out there, you don't
get the feeling you
are reading a dry text book with her
writing.
Rebecca has just released a new book with a
rather unique title -
"The Beginner's Guide to Marketing and Making
Love". Its true the
title will turn some people off (yeah, bad bad
pun - its her pun,
not mine!) But if people don't look at this
book, it is
definitely their loss.
Rebecca draws many parallels between running an
online business
and starting a relationship. Finding your target
customer
(finding an available person), to building the
relationship with
a newsletter or ecourse (courting), the
importance of
testimonials, and so on.
If you have ever been put off by some of the
other introductory
books to Internet marketing (or even fallen
asleep while trying
to read them!) this is the book for you.

On to the contents of this weeks newsletter.
My interview this week is with Doug Heil. Doug
is well known in
the search engine area - in particular for his
strong views on
the right and wrong things to do when trying to
rank well in the
search engines.
His interview contains great advice on ensuring
that you don't
accidentally get your site banned from the
search engine, and I
feel is a must-read.
I don't have any new resources for you this
week, as I am
currently on holidays (my brother in-law is
visiting for the
week). Instead I have highlighted a number of
previous resources
below, in case you haven't taken a look at them
before.
I hope you enjoy it. Don't forget that you can

2. Interview - Doug Heil
Sorry, this interview is no longer available in the archives. It has been moved to the membership site. You can find out more about the membership site (and how to join) by visiting here.
3. Resources - Previously Added
As I mentioned above, I haven't had a chance
to add any new
resources this week. So instead I thought I
would highlight a few
previous resources, in case you hadn't had a
look at them.
"How Anyone Can Create Best-Selling Infoproducts
Without Writing
A Word", by Jeff Smith [PDF]. This book
goes through the various
types of infoproducts (they aren't just ebooks),
and then gives 3
simple methods for creating one that doesn't
involve you writing
anything.
"Finding a web host", by Brian Welch
[ecourse]. This short
ecourse provides hints and tips on selecting a
web host. Since a
web site is one of the most important parts of
your online
business, you don't want to make the wrong
choice!
"Profit Generating Ideas", by Dirk Dupon
[ecourse]. This ecourse
covers a large range of topics on how you can
improve your online
sales. Some of the topics covered include; How
to double your
sales by changing one thing in your sales
letters, ezine ads &
ecourses; Selecting and promoting affiliate
programs; Building
your list; Attracting traffic to your site.
"The Opt In Strategy", by Ian Herculson
[PDF]. What would you do
if you lost your list of 18,000 subscribers?
When it happened to
Ian, he set about rebuilding it. After only a
few weeks, he was
already over the 2,000 subscribers mark, and
making more money
from his new list than his old! This books
explains what he did
to rebuild his list, and how you can do the
same.
Links to all these resources are on the front
page of the
"members only" section, along with the existing
collection of
ebooks, ecourses, and other useful sites.

4. Final Word
We're having a group of friends over for
dinner this evening, so
needless to say getting ready for that is high
on our mind =)
Although to be honest it isn't anything fancy -
pizza and pasta.
Thankfully!
(while I could cook a three course meal, I
think I might get a
little stressed doing it ;-) )
I hope you enjoyed this weeks interview with
Doug. Getting your
site banned from the search engines can be
crippling for a
business - its something I would hate to have
happen to me, and
hopefully his advice will help you avoid having
it happen to you.
My interview next week is with Harvey Segal.
Harvey is probably
best known for his free ebooks on ClickBank, Ad
Tracking and
Forums. His books have brought him a lot of
success online, so I
spoke with him about the books, choosing a
niche, and the changes
he has made to his business over the years.
BTW, don't forget to take a look at Rebecca's
new book - "The
Beginner's Guide to Marketing and Making Love".
It is an
enjoyable (and educational) read - a perfect
introduction to
Internet marketing.

Till next week, I wish you much success in
your online business.

wiser today than he was
yesterday." -- Abraham Lincoln
