1. From the Editor
Welcome to another issue of Achieve Net
Profits. Unless of course
this is your first issue, in which case -
welcome aboard! =)
Some of you might have noticed that last weeks
newsletter got a
little scrambled. For some people it was only a
case of having
random "! " characters throughout the
newsletter. Others
(including me with one of my test addresses) had
the newsletter
totally scrambled. And for most, the links in
the newsletter
weren't clickable.
The company I use to send out this newsletter
(Ultimate Merchant
- which is really just another name for
QuickPayPro, as it is all
the same system) have been upgrading their mail
out system.
On the plus side, they have added some nice
features (one I
particularly like is the ability to schedule
messages to go out
at a later date - usually only dedicated
autoresponder companies
offer that feature).
On the down side, there were a couple of bugs in
the upgrade!
Thankfully it seems the major bugs have been
ironed out now. But
not all of the bugs. The only 'problem' now is
that the system
will only send out HTML messages (no more
text-only). Still, it's
better than last weeks mess!
Because of the bugs from last week, you might
not have clicked on
the link for Rebekah's "Forum Profits" book to
have a look at
what it offers.
http://www.achievenetprofits.com/forumprofits/
Personally, I feel that would be a mistake ;-)
Forums are one of
the few remaining methods on the Internet where
you can promote
your business (or products) for free, and still
get good results.
Of course, if you don't know what you are doing
you will damage
your reputation and ruin any chance you might
have had at
promoting yourself through the forums quicker
than you can say
"Why don't I get any sales from my posts?"
Worse, you could even get yourself banned!
Luckily, Rebekah's book will show you the do's
(and don'ts!) of
posting in forums, how you can increase the
number of people who
read your posts, and how to increase the clicks
you get from your
posts to your web site, product, etc.
It really is a superb book (its on my "top 5"
list, which you can
view in the members area of Achieve Net
Profits), and I highly
recommend you take a look.

Pamela Heywood (publisher of the very
informative and fun "All
Good Things" - http://www.pamela-heywood.com
), is up to her old
brainwashing tricks on me again. Although this
time she's trying
to get me to pick up the interests of other
people I'm
interviewing.
If you read her last newsletter (and you really
should), you'd
have seen that she hoped the people I'm
currently interviewing
collect Venus fly traps or piranha. Unbeknownst
to her, I
actually like Venus fly traps! ;-)
(The botanical gardens in our city had a display
of them last
year, including several species native to
Tasmania. It was very
interesting.)
Luckily it seems Ian Herculson (my interviewee
this week) doesn't
collect piranha, as my wife and I have had no
compulsion to go
out and buy some. Which I'm sure our cats are
grateful for. So
Pamela's plans have been foiled! ;-)
And now, without further ado its time to see
what else is in
store for you this week!
My interview this week is with Ian Herculson.
Ian recently
suffered a fate that all of us would dread - he
lost his entire
18,000 member mailing list. Rather than get
depressed, he set
about rebuilding it, and in only a couple of
weeks built a list of
over 2,000! Not only that, but his new list is
earning him more
than his old list ever did.
You can find out more about how he built his new
list (and why it
is so responsive) below. And if you publish your
own newsletter,
you can also find out how to get a free
membership for a year in
The Big Ezine Directory!
The new resource this week is a book Ian has
literally just
released (it came out on Monday). Titled "The
Opt In Strategy",
this book discusses in-depth how Ian managed to
rebuild his list
so quickly. More about this below.
I hope you enjoy it. Don't forget that you can

2. Interview - Ian Herculson
Sorry, this interview is no longer available in the archives. It has been moved to the membership site. You can find out more about the membership site (and how to join) by visiting here.
3. Resources - The Opt In Strategy
Everyone who runs a newsletter wants to find
ways to attract new
subscribers (I know I do! ;-) ). When Ian (who's
interview you
were just reading) lost his entire list, he set
about rebuilding
it quickly.
"The Opt In Strategy" shows exactly how he
went about rebuilding
his list - the tools he uses, sample ads he has
run to promote
his list, the messages he uses to entice people
to confirm their
subscription, the incentive he uses to get
people to join, and so
on.
If I could fault it at all, I'd say the only
thing missing is a
discussion of methods that didn't work in
building a list. He
talks briefly about one method that doesn't work
(buying
subscribers), but that's it.
Then again, at the price you pay for the book
(ie: nothing), such
a minor complaint can be easily overlooked!
This ebook is in PDF, so can be read by most
people. A link to
the ebook has been added to the "members only"
section, along
with the existing collection of ebooks,
ecourses, and other
useful sites.

4. Final Word
I realized last week that I had lost focus in
my online business.
If you were with me in January, you would have
seen my New Years
resolution to be working online full time by the
end of the year.
I realized that in the last month or so, I had
lost sight of that
goal.
Luckily I think I've managed to realize in
time. After reviewing
my plans I've put one project on hold (I had
doubts about it, and
it was taking up a lot of my time), and I've
changed my direction
slightly.
What about you? If you feel like you are
going nowhere, perhaps
you also need to stop and look carefully at what
you are doing.
Is what you are doing ultimately going to help
you with your
goals, or have you lost focus like I did?
It isn't a waste of time to stop every once
and a while to look
at what you are doing. On the contrary, it can
save you a lot of
time and wasted effort in the long run!
I hope you enjoyed this weeks interview with
Ian. My interview
next week is with Doug Heil.
Doug is well known in the search engine area
- in particular for
his strong views on the right and wrong things
to do when trying
to rank well in the search engines. His
interview is a VERY
interesting read, and I'm sure you'll enjoy
it.
Till next week, I wish you much success in
your online business.
